Our Vision and What we do

Our Vision

Our Vision is for people in the Portsmouth Area in the UK with a breast cancer diagnosis to be able to access support, companionship, friendship and information at all stages of their cancer experience.

What we do

We are a community-based, informal, peer-to-peer networking group established in 2001. We are not a therapeutic support group, but we offer opportunities to create links with other people affected by breast cancer. We invite experts and specialists to lead workshops and events as needed by our members. Anyone who has had a breast cancer diagnosis and lives in or around the Portsmouth Area in the UK is welcome to join us.

Our group seeks to enhance support outside of a clinical setting, working in partnership with local NHS and other services. We may discuss the use of complementary therapies and physical activity alongside conventional treatments. We do not recommend alternative therapies and will always advise patients to consult their clinical team. We will not endorse specific service providers. We ask that all members respect this approach within the group.

The group is open to people in the Portsmouth area who have had a breast cancer diagnosis, whether primary or secondary. It is inclusive. Whilst most members are women, we may have members who are male or who have another gender identity. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Link at Cosham Baptist Church, Havant Road, Portsmouth P06 2QZ.

We have agreed some guidelines with our members to help us to be safe and feel safe as part of the group. Please click here to find out more.
