DAMSON HILL COTTAGE RETREAT DAYS

Damson Hill Cottage Retreat Days

Portsmouth Breast Cancer Friends has just hosted the second of its day retreats at Damson Hill Cottage. Tucked away in the woods in Upper Swanmore, this beautiful venue provided a perfect setting for our Spring and Autumn retreats. The aim of the events was to provide ideas and tools to support people after a breast cancer diagnosis. We know that being outdoors in nature, being physically active, eating well, and spending time connecting with others are all helpful ways to support our mental and physical wellbeing.

We welcomed participants with hot drinks and delicious healthy snacks at Betty the Caravan Café. Our wonderful instructor and host, Tors, introduced us to Pilates and strength training activities, and we learned about simple ways to eat more healthily from Hannah, who also gave us some recipes to try at home. We enjoyed sharing a meal together and spending time talking, and then some of us went for a walk, while others did craft activities.

The events were made possible thanks to funding from Macmillan.

In the words of the participants:

“The whole day was so helpful. I learned new things about food and exercise, made new friends…and had a lot of fun too.”

“I thought today was amazing – the setting, the fitness, the food, the people, the information. I could have stayed longer.”
