At our October meeting, Portsmouth Breast Cancer Friends were delighted to welcome Avi Agrawal (Consultant Breast Surgeon) and Julie Douglas (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) from Queen Alexandra Hospital’s Breast Unit for an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session.
This informal meeting provided an opportunity for us to receive an update on developments at the hospital, as well as to ask questions about treatments, side effects, and how best to find support for particular concerns. It also provided a forum for people to give feedback on their experiences, and to promote understanding between people with a breast cancer diagnosis and hospital staff.
We are incredibly grateful to Avi and Julie for giving up their valuable time to listen to our experiences and provide their valuable insights and guidance. We hope that events like this will become regular fixtures in our calendar, to improve communication between patients and services, and to develop better community support for patients.
